Messaging Students from Canvas Before the Start of the Term

In order to message students from the Canvas Inbox before the start of the term, your course needs to be published.

Publish the course

To publish your course, click the Publish button on the course's homepage.

When the course is published students will not have access to your course before the start of the term, but you can still message them.
