Chunking Panopto videos into shorter sessions

There are times when faculty may want to break (or chunk) their lecture videos into shorter sessions. To do so, you will need to make multiple copies of the original session, one session for each additional shorter video you want to create.

Smart Chapters and Table of Contents

Alternatively, we recommend adding Smart Chapters or a Table of Contents to long videos as it provides a way for students to quickly review previously viewed content. Open the video's settings

Locate the desired video and click Settings.

Copy the Session

Click Manage [1] and click Copy [2].

Confirm the desire to Copy

Click OK to copy the session.

Close the Settings window

Panopto begins to make a copy of the video. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the settings window. The new copy of the video will process.

Edit the new copy

Once the copy has finished processing, click Settings to change the names of the original and the copy (e.g. Part 1, Part 2).

Click Edit to make the necessary cuts to the original and copy.
