Step 1: Export a Quiz
1. Log into Canvas
2. Navigate to the course containing the test(s) needing export.
3. Click “Settings” in the course navigation.
4. Click “Export Course Content”.
5. Select “Quiz” under Export Type.
6. Uncheck the “All Quizzes” selection box and check the box next to the test you would like to export for print. Click “Create Export”.
IMPORTANT: Do not select more than one test at a time. Each quiz/exam needs to be downloaded individually.
7. When the export has completed, the status bar will read “Your content has been exported” below it. Click “New Export” above the status bar. Your export will be downloaded to your computer.
Step 2: Import Quiz to Respondus
Before you begin this step, be sure you have access to Respondus software. Respondus is free to download from the eLearning Resources site. Be aware that Respondus is only available for PC. If you need this installed on your campus computer, please contact the Help Desk at 407-708-2000.
1. Open Respondus 4.0 Campus-Wide.
2. In the Open or Create page, select “IMS QTI” from the Current Personality drop down.
3. Click “Import Questions”.
4. In the Import Questions dialogue box, click “Browse” next to File Name.
5. In the Browse dialogue box, change the file type to be “Zipped IMS QTI package (.zip)”.
6. Select the file you wish from your computer and click “Open”.
7. Back in the Import Questions dialogue box, type a quiz/test name in the “Create a new document named:” text box.
8. Click the “Preview” button. Your questions will appear in the Preview results area. Any issues with the file will be shown in the large text box at the bottom of the dialogue box.
9. Click the “Finish” button.
Step 3: Exporting to Word
Note: After a test is imported into Respondus, you are able to edit or manually add questions. If you need assistance adding or editing questions in this step, contact eLearning for additional instruction.
1. Click “Preview + Publish” at the top of the program.
2. On the left side, click “Print Options”.
3. In the Print Options menu, click the “Exam with Answer Key” radio button. Use the “Settings” button to change answer key options. Click the “Save to File” button.
4. In the Save to File dialogue box, type in a file name and click “Save”.
5. Respondus will let you know when your file has been saved successfully.
